History behind the Southern Cross sailboat
The Bermuda rigged Southern Cross was built in 1962 by inquiry of the Royal British Family. The boat is the largest Ketch built in Scotland, with high-end materials and exclusive design, achieving the Lloyd’s Register YACHT OF THE YEAR award for best design and construction in 1962.

“The Bermuda rigged SOUTHERN CROSS is the biggest steel auxiliary ketch built in Scotland for many years. Her length is 109 feet 6 inches, and she has accommodation for nine guests in
addition to the owner’s suite. She was awarded the Lloyd’s Register ‘Yacht of the Year’ Trophy for the best design and construction in 1962, in competition with 86 other yachts.”
This magnificent ketch has been given different names throughout the years. Some of its previous names are Schierensee, Patrilla, Lola-Min and Amstel. It’s believed that the sailboat was previously owned by renowned celebrities such as Frank Sinatra while it was moored in the Caribbean Sea.
Despite its 58 years, and its many restorations, still today, it maintains the English style with which the sailboat was initially built. Nowadays we can still appreciate noble woods in dark colours and English style furniture.

The boat is equipped with lounges where you can host sophisticated and exclusive dinners as well as an extent deck space where you can organize a cocktail-style meal with more of an informal vibe. There’s a sound system onboard where you can play your music. We also offer you the option to have live music on board. We can assure you that a bit of live Flamenco lifts everyone’s mood. It’s also important to mention that we have a capacity for up to 10 people to stay overnight.
